Andy's Profile When I was much younger I studied Wicca with the best teachers I could find, although at the time I was not initiated. In fact it would be fair to say that I was more interested in the philosophy of Wicca, and paganism in general, than the practice. From paganism my interests shifted to complementary therapies and I studied various types of massage (ITEC), Reiki and a number of other therapies to a lesser degree (no pun intended). Both Wicca and complimentary therapies greatly shaped my philosophy. For a while I thought I had this meaning of life business cracked but I was mistaken. I returned to Wicca via witchschool.com but again it sort of went off the boil. The truth of the matter is that I was not, at that time much interested in nature. Sure I appreciated it but I would not say I was particularly connected with it.
About four years ago I had a heart attack. This is nowhere near as dramatic as it sounds, it was little more than a feeling of heartburn and a sore arm and I was back at work in a couple of weeks but it had two lasting consequences. Firstly I have not smoked since (which is no doubt a good thing) but also hospitalised as I was there was nothing to do but talk and two of my ‘ward mates’ were into sailing yachts, something I assumed you needed to be stinking rich to get involved in. Well once again I was wrong and sailing is now a big part of my life, I have written books on the subject, competed twice in the Fastnet race and crossed the channel many times. In order to be a sailor you need to understand the wind and the tides. This was the connection to nature, the lack of which made me such a crap pagan previously. Now it is all just about starting to make sense and this is why I joined pagan partners. I want to get back into paganism, hopefully with someone who will at least understand the path and ideally join me on it.
