laura mcnally is 38, and living in Hebden bridge, which is in the North of the UK.
laura mcnally's Profile I am passionate about the things I love and what I believe in. I throw myself wholeheartedly into new departures, projects or life changes. I'm open minded and I find it easy to try new things. I have a positive outlook to life and I like having fun, being silly and playful. I enjoy being around friends and connecting. I'm emotionally literate and can easily express my feelings and thoughtfully listen too. I'm loving and caring.
I have beautiful things around me: wildflowers and blousy cottage garden flowers in my garden, old lady lamps, vintage furniture and crazy 1970's colourful bedspreads. I'm feminine and I am interested in style, not designer, but in an offbeat, individual/ vintage/ bohemian way. I appreciate old things, aged with time, full of secrets and tales. I like storytelling, history and understanding who we are. I am an artist and this presents itself in many ways, I paint, draw and make things, but to me being an artist also means being able to draw upon and digest a whole load of information, visual / written and then feel/ think/ linger with it for a while and let new ideas bloom and blossom. This can be about researching interesting a new subject or new projects to embark upon. I have a thirst to learn and gain knowledge to inform our lives, making us feel more fullfilled and happier. I am inspired by the world around me.- the flowers, the colours of the sky, friends hair cascading over their necks..etc.
I am spiritual though not in any religious way. I love the idea of bringing reverence and making special occasions into being in my own way but also being aware of the traditional celtic celebrations, the reasons behind them and how the passing of seasons were marked in the past. I have always had an interest in indiginous peoples- how they parent, communicate, live, educate, pass history on and co exist with the world around them. I think we have a lot to learn from these communities. I like being outdoors, be it camping, walking or adventuring. The world we live in is important to me and I endeavour to tread gently upon it. I care about environmental issues and I am proud to be vegan. I am contientious and I want to help look after this world. I feel a deep connection with the earth and the creatures we share it with. I am interested in loads of stuff- attachment parenting, education, health and fitness, music and dancing. I like cooking and making food from around the world. I enjoy thinking about food and how eating can make us zestful and healthy. I'm active, I regularly play squash, run, do yoga, go to zumba classes, cycle, climb trees and play tig. I am practical and good at physically building things. I can problem solve and fix things. I enjoy making my home a cosy environment to be in. I built a lovely dry stone wall in my front garden and now I'm enjoying finding little native wild flowers to live in its nooks and crannies.
I love being a mum, its a great job, and one I feel very lucky and privaledged to do. I see the importance and value in doing this job as well as I can. Parenting has been a wonderful awakening experience for me. It has made me see (with fresh eyes again) what is really important in life, who I want to be and what I want to do.
I really love music and having a good boogie to music with a good beat. I also Jive and Lindyhop. At the moment I'm listening to lots of afrobeat, but I also love Soul, Funk, Indie, Punk, Techno, Disco, Blues. I like vinyl- how it feels, smells and sounds.
Some favourite places: Sitting in the sunshine. The top of Pen-Y-Ghent, with the clounds swishing past your head. Building a fire, watching the flames dance. Sitting at the front of a tent making a cup of tea. Tucked up in bed reading stories. Running through a wood jumping over the bracken and tree roots.
